There is hardly a more beautiful motto than that of Cambridge: NON VOBIS (Not For Ourselves). The simple teaching of these words by Virgil has inspired generations of Cambridge learners for over a century. The essential humanity of the Latin poet is active in every facet of what we strive to do. It accounts for that unique warmth and indefatigable spirit pervading every classroom, alive in every sporting encounter and animating the staffroom.
One of the strengths of Cambridge High School is in the fact that all the teams are coached by a staff member allowing the players and coaches to have constant contact with the players in their teams.
Cambridge High School athletics has gone from strength to strength with over 100 athletes competing in events regularly.
Aqautics encompasses all water sports. We currently have Swimming and Water polo.
We have a bowls team that competes in a schools league as well as the local club league on weekends.
We have been identified as a cricket focus school by the department of sport and recreation, making the cricket here stronger than its been in years.
Our hockey has improved astronomically with the addition of the sand based astro turf in 2015.
We have been identified as a Netball focus school by the department of sport and recreation. Netball has had a win percentage of more than 65% for the season for more than 10 years now.
We have a large compliment of rugby teams with only a few schools able to fulfill all our teams on a derby day and a coaching staff who are all level one qualified steering the ship.
We have team and social squash who compete in the school league all year round.
We have a number of tennis teams who play matches in the East London school league with the 1st teams being coached by a tennis pro.
We have a power walking team who compete in inter school walking competitions regularly and are involved in the Cansa relay every year.
Cambridge boasts a selection of many different cultural activities.
Our chess team competes regularly in tournaments and against other schools in East London.
78 members strong and growing. Cambridge first aid is on duty for all winter sports fixtures. The first aid team boasts qualified first aiders from level 1 to level 3 all trained by Alderson Ambulances.
